Educate with Love
We are a group of dedicated, passionate educators who believe not only in bringing solid academic programs to students but also in teaching children important values such as gratitude, respect, kindness, and compassion through our character education program. The Tzu Chi Education Foundation was established in 2004. There are currently four Great Love Preschools and two Elementary Schools serving a total of 373 students.
Our principal objective is to offer an excellent academic curriculum that when combined with a program and interactive opportunities that help students build character and develop virtues, can effectively cultivate well-rounded global citizens with a humanistic world-view. Fostering positive traits such as kindness, tolerance, self-discipline, trustworthiness, and integrity, while emphasizing the values of gratitude, respect, and love, is central to our mission.
Supported by research on the effectiveness of theme-based learning, our educational method combines small class size, strong teacher-student relationships, and real-world social interactions, with Tzu Chi core missions of community service, charity work, disaster relief, and medical outreach. Our approach allows students to learn about the needs of both their local communities and the world, while pursuing an above par education at our schools. Additionally, parents, grandparents, and Tzu Chi volunteers give their time to accompany students through their learning experience, providing emotional support and individual attention to create a loving, family-like environment.
Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation’s education mission began in 1989, rooted in Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s aim to provide education that balances developing the mind with opening the heart. Inspired by her vision, Tzu Chi USA saw a void in the educational system in the United States which lacks a character education curriculum. Aspiring to fill that need, the Tzu Chi Education Foundation was established in 2004 and has since opened six preschools and elementary schools in multiple cities across Texas and California.
